It's Not How You Start

It's how you finish!

The Jazz have now won 8 straight after tonight's schooling of the Warriors.  I say "schooling" because the Jazz simply out-smarted and out defended the Warriors in the 4th quarter.  Over these last 8 wins the Jazz have outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points in the 4th and were only outscored by the Hawks and that game was already over.  When this streak started, the Jazz were 9th in the West.  After tonight they will be 7th (percentage points behind the Hornets) and only 3 games out of 2nd!  And while we thought the road games would be the death of the streak, the Jazz have fought through, which may be just enough confidence to carry them through the upcoming schedule.  After 2 big home games against the Rockets and Nuggets this week, the Jazz will head east for 5 straight (sidenote: I may be going to the Pacers game, and these guys have been giant killers all year).  So while we are high on the Jazz right now, let's temper that and be cautiously optimistic.

Oh...and by the way...HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS DERON WILLIAMS!?  Averaging 22.8 points and 11.2 assists over his last 12 games.  What a stud.

[Bonus Update]  ESPN points out that Deron is second in the league in 20-assist games since '05-'06 with 4.  Steve Nash is #1 with 5, then DWill, then Chris Paul with 3.  ALSO, John Stockton had 35 20-assist games, that is re-DUNK-ulous.

OK, so, who wants free tickets!? For Wednesday's game against the Rockets, all you have to do is send in a picture of yourself at a Jazz game or with a Jazz player ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).  Not just a boring picture of the court, but of YOU.  Now, it REALLY needs to be you in the picture and, guess what, if you win, we'll know if it is or not.  We'll still give you the tickets, but we'll also mock you unmercifully and you'll bring shame on your family.  So if you're going to enter the contest and send us a picture, you need to read the not-so-fine print: any picture you send us becomes propery of True Blue Jazz (but don't worry, we'll just be deleting it after the contest ends).  You also agree to allow TBJ to post your picture.  You agree that you will not hold TBJ, it's contributors, web hosts, sponsors, or advertisers responsible for any harm or damage that may arise from entering this contest and submitting a picture.  We are a simple blog and we have no money!  If you want to sue us you aren't going to get any money.  If you can't agree to all that, then don't send us your pics!  But don't be scared, we just want to have some fun and get some feedback, and we know our readers love the Jazz and need to go to the games!

Wow, way to put a downer on the 8 game win streak with your lawyer talk. Just kidding. The last two wins were a little too close. I think Boozer makes the team worse right now, but we're just going to have to live with that until he gets back to game speed. On the bright side, Korver seems to be playing much better. I think his wrist really was bothering him, hopefully he's good now. Gotta win these next two games going in to our East coast road trip.

I really enjoyed watching those games....not. My DirecTV went out on Saturday. Thanks.

However, the Gamecast was better than nothing. I really want to see Booze adjusting a little quicker. I'm starting to get a little nervous about him.

We all knew that Feb needed to be a 12-1 to 10-3 month. The Jazz nailed it. March might be rough, we need to keep the confidence level high and hope that Brewer and Korver keep up their hot hands.

Did you see Brewer's box score? Incredible. Almost Kirilenko-ish. I would say he is the wild card for the Jazz coming into the post season.

As impressed as I am with Korver's shooting, I am more impressed with the progress of his Defense. The guy is putting forth enormous effort day in and day out. Very impressive.
On a side note, the entire game, and Hammy is my witness, was watched via GameCast on my phone. I don't dare watch one on my TV. I will go to a game or watch it on my phone, that's it.

There are questionably legal ways to watch games on line for free. Picture quality usually isn't great, but it's better than watching gamecast.
