The Koof Recalled

The Jazz today recalled rookie big man Kosta Koufos from the NBA Developmental League's Utah Flash.

The move was made partly because starting center Mehmet Okur has a strained right hamstring, and his status for Sunday's Game 1 of the Jazz's opening round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers in L.A. is uncertain.

His challenge, as given to him by j-slow... sit on the bench and waive his towel whenever the Jazz score... all the while knowing that he could be helping the Jazz against all the Laker bigs. I wonder how bad Okur really is hurt, and how long he'll be out. Not that it'd have much of an impact on the outcome of the series, but still... he is your starting center. And with him out, there'll be too much Flop.

(This is not my series preview... I'll try to get that up tonight/tomorrow or something.)

Sadly, there's no way he'll start, not with Collins still around. I hope he gets some minutes though

Oh, he'll get minutes, no doubt (if he's active).
If not starting, then at the end of a blowo... oh, damn. There I go being all pessimistic again.

Koof needs to play, period. He has enough offense to draw bynum out, freeing the lane for Dwill to abuse whoever is guarding him. Koof did have a good defensive game against Yao, so I think he can really help.

I have my jazz colored glasses on...
